I oversaw the output of 50 issues a year with a small team of in-house designers, working with photographers, illustrators, writers and copy editors. Oversaw a redesign of the magazine. Participated in editorial meetings, to then go away and concept and art direct the best way to tell the story, mainly through photography and illustration, almost all of which was commissioned for the magazine. I edited imagery and gave illustration feedback to get to final art, after which I designed covers, spreads and departments, all of which shown below are mine.

covers
While a “Sunday supplement” we designed the covers as though on a newstand, concepting, art directing and executing to grab attention and make the magazine what readers wanted to dive into first.

SPREADS
We read each story and decided how to bring it to life, through photography or illustration, almost always custom to the piece, while following brand guidelines and style sheets.

DEPARTMENTS
While heavily templated, FOB and BOB (front- and back-of-book) pieces were just as fun to work on with photographers, and in some cases illustrators, to bring to life.
